Our Team
Dr. Avinash Rao is founder and Principal Consultant at IDS. Avinash has more than a decade of experience in the space industry, having spent six years as GNC Lead and Director of Mission Delivery at Rocket Lab. While there, Avinash was responsible for the development of flight control systems, flight software and systems engineering of the Electron launch vehicle.
Since moving on from Rocket Lab in 2019, he has co-founded an aerospace startup and worked with private, government and academic institutions on a variety of consulting projects through IDS.
Avinash holds a B.E Hons. (1st Class) Mechatronics and a Ph. D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Canterbury.
